This question certainly generates a lot of different answers depending on who you ask. Some say better healthcare, some say more money, some say more education, some say _______________________. The list is long! We continue to try and fix our families, our communities and our country’s problems with natural solutions. Where is that getting us?
In the book of Mark Chapter 2 Jesus had been healing multiple physical needs, casting out devils and other miracles. So much so that in Chapter 1 verse 37 the Bible says that “ALL” men were looking for Him. ALL MEN! In chapter 2, Jesus is brought a paralytic in one of the most unusual ways. His friends literally tore the roof off of the home HE was in and lowered him down because there were so many people trying to get to Jesus. While everyone anticipated a physical miracle from Jesus, he told the paralyzed man that his sins were forgiven. What? What? What? - Probably felt like an All State commercial … are you kidding me!
Jesus was telling them something then and us something today. What is most important in a person’s life? It’s not to walk again, eat another meal, have a nicer car, get more educated, have more clothes, more stuff and quite frankly not to be in good health. The greatest need is forgiveness of our sins! In fact Jesus asked the crowd “Which is easier?” The gospel is easier. It’s simple and it works. Much of our culture today has not rejected the gospel, they have never heard it. Chapter 2 goes on to say that Jesus did in fact heal the man's paralyzed body but not until after His point was made.
The GREATEST NEED! The greatest need has nothing to do with the physical, social or intellectual problems in our country. It’s SPIRITUAL.
At First Priority we understand that it takes all of the amazing and wonderful things that the Body of Christ does in our world to meet the needs of so many desperate and hurting people. We also understand that in the end there will be many cripple, hungry, poor, ragged clothed, not so educated people that will walk through the gates of Heaven because they heard and responded to the message of the Gospel.
Will you help students stand for their faith at school and lead their friends to the spiritual solution for their lives?
Help students reach their friends before someone else does.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
